RESOCIALIZATION: the process by which existing social roles are radically altered or replaced.
With socialization, comes the concept of resocialization. This website talks about how a person can be resocialized into society. A lot of time this process is neccessary with people who have served in the army, people who have been in jail for long periods of time, or anybody who had a radical life altering incident occur.

Socialization of Children
Children are heavily influenced by everything around them. To them, everything is an agent of socialization because they are basically a blank slate. They are learning everyday what is acceptable and what isn't. This video called Children See, Children Do shows us that children are likely to follow the actions of the adults in their lives especially their family because that is one of their most influential agents of socialization. If parents are setting horrible examples to their kids, than it is likely that they are going to grow up thinking that the actions they saw represented by their parents are O.K.

Family: Agents of Socialization
This chapter focuses heavily on Agents of Socialization. When thinking about it, I decided that my biggest agents of socialization in my life have been my family. Our families are the first ones who introduce us to the expectations of society. Children are heavily shaped and molded by their families, and usually express many traits similar to their parents. Seeing as how agents of socialization was a large topic in this chapter, and the one that I was most interested in, the photo I have chose to use is a picture of my family, my biggest Agents of Socialization.
Why I chose chapter 4
Chapter 4 is all about our socialization into the world that we live in. Socialization is in every aspect of our lives. From the moment we're born, until we pass, we are constantly experiencing socialization. Agents of socialization play huge roles in our lives. Examples can be; famalies, media, religion, peers, schools, and sports. I chose to do one of my blogs on chapter 4 because it personally relates to every person in our society today. We all have people who have guided us to what is right, what is wrong, and what is socially expected of us and members of society.
